Lime Architecture Ltd were appointed to obtain planning and listed building consent to alter and extend the Grade II listed East Lodge.
East Lodge is a small two-storey plus basement country house built circa 1820 on the outskirts of Anslow as a hunting lodge for Sir Edward Mosley of Rolleston Hall. The Mosley family acquired Rolleston Hall, or manor as it was, during the 1620’s. The estate has since passed down from generation to generation before the sale of the estate in the mid 1920’s and further demolition of the larger part of Rolleston Hall.
The building is constructed in brickwork and clad with Hopton Stone Ashlar blocks to three elevations, namely the North East, South East and South West Elevations. The rear or North West Elevation is constructed with facing brickwork and part lime render. The lime render is evident as a result of works carried out from the removal of a link between East Lodge and a former Dower house.
A very important principle of the design of the works was to preserve the original character of the building, whilst providing contemporary facilities for the new owners and their family. The fundamental elements which form the alterations are providing heat and power throughout the building, providing a comfortable environment for the family to live.
Alterations to the Grade II Listed building are summarised as follows:
